Short: ALIVE 4 runes for LaTeX Author: steigies@physik.uni-kiel.de (Christian T. Steigies) Uploader: steigies physik uni-kiel de (Christian T Steigies) Type: text/font Version: 4.0 Architecture: generic This archive contains tex, tfm and pk files which were used for the rune alphabet in ALIVE 4. Also included is the F77 source for a program to prepare text files for use with this font. THIS IS A HACK! I don't know enough MetaFont to create my own fonts, so I used BitMapToFont to make fonts usable by TeX. The result is, these fonts can only be used with 300dpi devices (DeskJet, LaserJet, Previewer). Well, I _did_ also print on a FujitsuDL (360dpi) but the output is not really what you want. Usage: ------ Copy the pk files in the appropriate directory. For my EMTeX installation this would be: C:\EMTEX\TEXFONTS\PIXEL.DJ\300DPI\ For PasTeX this would be: TeX:fonts/pk/deskjet/300/ Copy the tfm files in the appropriate directory. For my EMTeX installation this would be: C:\EMTEX\TFM\ For PasTeX this would be: TeX:fonts/tfm/ Create a TeX file and include old_rune/new_rune. Here the commands for using these fonts are (re)defined. You can then use \{Letter} to print a rune symbol. Look into the included files to see which chars are available. Be careful not to use more than 14 chars per line, the chars are ½inch high. TeX does no correct line- or wordbreak, since the chars are no letters. You have to do it by hand (I said it was a hack...). For easier usage, I wrote a (very simple) Fortran77 program to convert ascii text files to files which can be included by main.tex The EXE file is for DOS, I am working on a C version. See main.tex for the main file and code.tex for an example to print all available characters. All output will be acording to the rune alphabet used in: ALIVE 4 - Das Konzil der Magier To make your own table have a look at old_rune/new_rune. Disclaimer: Use at your own risk. I am not responsible for anything that happens when you use (parts of) this package. Do not use Windows. You are free to use the pk, tfm, tex and fortran files. The rune bitmaps (oldrune.pcx, newrune.pcx) which were used to create the bitmaps are not free, use grid.iff to create your own fonts. If you want to use them anyway, ask me, I might give them away for a little reward :-) You want to know what ALIVE is? Well, it's _a_ LIVE ROLE PLAYING GAME. If your local dealer has not got the rules, you want to know more about ALIVE and/or liveroleplaying or have comments about this package, contact me.
