Short: Imagining a bridge Author: Ragnar Fyri (ragnar.fyri@daf.no) Uploader: Ragnar Fyri (ragnar fyri daf no) Type: pix/imagi Architecture: generic A couple of years back I started building a suspension in Imagine mostly because I thought doing the cables would be an interesting exercise. Once that was done I kind of lost interest for a while and left it half finished. [Somewhere in the interim I got contacted by Patrick Henz who asked if I had any interesting objects to share, so I let him play with my half finished bridge. You can see the result (with his colouring) in pix/henz as fommisc01.jpg.] Recently (Spring 2002) I started working on it again, mostly adding side cables. (They are not there in Patrick's version, which is probably why he chose to focus on the middle of the bridge... ;-)) This is just a test render I made after finishing the cables. It is called "Albatross" simply because this is a kind of twisted bird's eye view of the bridge, so I thought of a big bird. Apologies to any collectors of bird pictures who got misled, but that's what the short description is for! Anyway, it could also be seen as a reference to the unpainted state of the object (Albus is Latin for white). Guess I'll start on the colouring and texturing next. Anyone happen to have a good asphalt texture lying around? Asker, April 2002 Ragnar Fyri ragnar.fyri@daf.no ICQ# 38891981
