I've done a quick port of freetype-2.1.9 from the sources available from:

libfreetype.a:  a pre-built amiga version of the gcc library for using true type fonts

My slightly modified sources (the original package built 'relatively' easy with "make")

INSTALLATION:

Install the file 'libfreetype.a' in your development environment 'lib' directory
put a copy of the entire header file directory "freetype" and the header file "ft2build.h" (found in the 'include' directory of this distribution...) in your development environment's 'include' directory
